Independence

Barrier & Bloom is editorially independent. No brand, retailer, or affiliate program has any say over what we recommend, how we rank, or what we publish. We are funded by affiliate commissions (see our affiliate disclosure), and that funding never buys a verdict.

No sponsored placements, no pay-to-play

We do not sell placements in our roundups. A product cannot pay to be included, to rank higher, or to have a con removed. If we ever publish genuinely sponsored content it will be labeled as sponsored, unmistakably and at the top — and it will never be one of our rankings.

No free products in exchange for coverage

We do not accept free products, gifts, or press samples in exchange for coverage or a favorable review. Our evaluations are built from published specifications, decoded ingredient lists, and aggregated public information — not from a PR mailer.

No fabricated experience or credentials

We do not claim to have hands-on lab-tested products we have not tested, and we do not claim credentials we do not hold. Our author is an enthusiast, not a dermatologist, and we say so. Where a claim about a product comes from someone else's testing, we name them and link to them rather than passing it off as ours. This is the core of how we review.

Prices are live, never invented

Every price is pulled live from the Amazon Product API and stamped with the date it was fetched. If our data is stale (older than 48 hours) the number disappears rather than misleading you. We never type a price into a page by hand and we never show a "was/now" discount we cannot verify against the live feed.

Honest cons, and a pick to skip

Every recommended product carries real cons and a "don't buy this if" line. Every roundup names at least one product to skip. A page that makes everything sound perfect is selling, not reviewing.

Corrections

We get things wrong sometimes, and when we do we fix them. If you spot a factual error — a wrong spec, an outdated formulation, a broken claim — tell us and we will correct material errors within 48 hours and note the correction on the page. We would rather visibly fix a mistake than quietly bury it.
